12th & 13th February, 2005

This year we actually had enough Fly Buys points to do something with them, so we decided to spend them on a night away at the Sunshine Coast, at Rydges Oasis Resort, Caloundra. We were lucky enough to book the hotel for the weekend just before Valentine's day, so this was our Valentine's day present to ourselves as well. We had a fantastic time!

We spent the day wandering around the Sunshine Coast, then checked in to the hotel. Since the sun was a bit lower in the sky (and therefore less likely to burn us), we decided to go for a swim at the beach. Then we walked back to the hotel and swam in the pool and spa there for a while.

Before dinner, we decided to treat ourselves to a cocktail, which was really nice. We ate a delicious dinner and then went back to our room (to watch the Iron Chef! LOL we don't even miss it on a romantic weekend away.... yes we know how sad we are).

The next day, we had a delicous breakfast (payed for with Fly Buys points!!) and then spent more time exploring the coast and the Sunshine Coast hinterland. We went to a town called Montville, which had lots of little craft stores and cafes. We even went to the Big Pineapple (their ice-cream sundaes are NOT what they used to be!). We walked along the beach in the afternoon, until it began raining.

All in all it was a wonderful weekend!
