Our Busy Weekend

I love having a busy weekend :) It beats the hell out of sitting around watching TV (although that is nice sometimes too and probably what will happen next weekend!).

Actually, it has been a busy *week*.

On Wednesday we went out to see the comedian Ross Noble at QPAC at Southbank. He was hilarious! Only problem was we were running late (food took ages to come out at the restaurant we went to first, not to mention Matt was 1/2 an hour late which seems to be a pattern for him). It was embarassing to have to go in to the theatre late when the show had already started. We were lucky though, we were sitting towards the back and didn't get paid out too much.

On Thursday I went to Denise's place for scrapbooking. It used to be a regular occurance but we hadn't gotten around to organising a scrapping night for ages, so it was really good!

Friday night a bunch of us went out for dinner. Paula has been organising these monthly get togethers where a different person chooses the restaurant each time. It is a fantastic idea because we get to try lots of new things. This time it was Thai Terrace at Rosalie, and the food was fantastic. A huge thank you to Paula for organising it. She is always the one who puts in the time and effort to call/email everyone and organise the bookings, and it is very much appreciated. You rock Paula! And I can't wait for the next one.

Saturday night was a celebration for Daniel's 25th birthday. We went to dinner at Gilhooley's and then went bowling. I lost as usual (actually I only came second last on the first game because Geoff deliberately lost so I wouldn't feel bad). I have been bowling so many times you would think I would be better at it by now. Daniel was rather drunk and hopefully Matt will blog about it and give him shit for calling me a bitch :)

Today was a nice relaxing day (and I think I needed it). For my birthday, Matt gave me a Pure Indulgence voucher, and today was the first chance I've had to use it. We went to the city and I had my massage and facial & eyebrow wax. It was heavenly. I have never had a proper massage or a facial before, so it was really nice. They tried to then talk me into buying their skin care products that they used for the facial but their idea of "very reasonably priced" and mine are apparently two entirely different things. I also got to pick up my wedding veil :) I am hoping to get a chance to try it on with the dress soon (the dress is at Mum's place).

We had Pizza for lunch. Yeah not very WW friendly but it was from this little place that cooks them on the spot for you, and they use no oil or sugar in their bases, and the cheese is 80% fat free. So for a pizza they were actually pretty good (and they tasted great too).

After lunch, we went and saw the DaVinci Code (as Matt had seen it but I hadn't). I won't write about it here because I pretty much agree with everything Matt said.

All in all, it has been a great weekend (week).

Hope you all had a good one too :)

Scrapbooking Camp

On the weekend I went to scrapbooking camp at Toowoomba (again!).

As usual, it was great fun. And, as usual, I didn't get as much work done as I had hoped.

I forgot how much time is spent talking, wandering around and looking at other people's work, drinking cups of tea and doing classes.

In the end, I got 6 double-page layouts done for our Tassie holiday album, and one layout done for Jules and Dan.

I would have liked to have gotten more done for Jules and Dan, but couldn't. I had planned to print out the photos as I needed them for their album as there were so many, but was having printer problems (mainly running out of ink). So it will have to wait until I can get to K-mart to do the rest.

If you would like to see what I did while on camp, click here. I would love it if people would have a look and let me know in the comments section what you think!

Inspire Me Thursday: Journaling

This week's Inspire Me Thursday challenge is to journal on paper.

I used to keep a journal and write in it often, but since starting scrapbooking I have really only journalled on my scrapbook pages (and here).

This was a good opportunity to do a real journal page for once :) I don't really even have a journal anymore so I did this in my art sketch book. It's about our frangipanni tree in our front yard. It's leaves are all gone and it has only a few flowers left. I love the way that the flowers are still coming out even while the leaves are falling.

Like the tree is never giving up hope. It's kinda nice :)

Anyway, here's my journal page:

I did it using watercolour pencils. I probably shouldn't have used watercolour pencil for the writing, as it is a bit hard to read, but oh well. Hope you like it.

2005 Album Finished!!!!

I have finally finished my 2005 scrapbook album. I finished it today at Denise's place. I had a great time there and think I am finally out of the funk I have been in for the last week or so.

This is the page I made for the beginning of the album:

I made it by using up the bits of photos I hadn't used in the rest of the album (left overs and double-ups). What do you think?

Reminiscing....

I realised today that I have been blogging for over a year now! It really doesn't seem that long.

I thought I would have a look through some of my old posts, and it was really interesting :) One thing I never really thought about when I started doing this was being able to look back and see what my thoughts and feelings were on some random day in the past.

It will be amazing if I keep this up for a few years and then look back. Although the things I read about from April 2005 seem like they happened a few weeks ago. Time goes so fast.

Tomorrow is the Ipswich Show Holiday. Woo Hoo!

I'm not going to sit around in my (new) pajamas though, as Denise has invited me to go over to her place and do some scrapbooking. It's just what I need, actually, because I have been feeling very lonely and sorry for myself over the past week or so (probably PMS) so it's good to feel like someone knows I exist!

I will post tomorrow with the results of my scrapbooking adventures... unless of course I spend the whole time eating and talking.

I am supposed to be working on this stupid ICT assignment I have been roped into doing but someone took the USB drive with all my files on it so I can't do any work. I am so disappointed (not).

Almost there...

I am almost finished my scrapbook album for 2005! All I have left to do now is the title page.

I finished these pages on the weekend:

I am going on Scrapbooking Camp in a couple of weeks, so if I can get this album finished before then, I will be able to work on my Tassie Holiday album and do some pages for Jules and Dan. (Jules & Dan - Do you guys have any ideas about what pages you would like done?)

Would love to hear people's feedback about the pages :)
By the way, the blue border is actually even, but it didn't scan particularly well.

Trivia Night

I love trivia nights but I think they may be more trouble than they are worth.

Last year and this year my school has had a Triva Night to raise money. I think they are great fun and something I am willing to support the school in (as opposed to carols by candlelight - ugh! ). This opinion is obviously not shared.

These are the people I managed to get to come to the night (after everyone else either couldn't make it or cancelled at the last minute):

Me
Matt (obligated to go as is my fiancee)
Mum (obligated to go as is my mother)
Geoff (very graciously agreed to go but next year will probably make a dentist's appointment instead!)
My brother (only came for the last two rounds after I got pissed off with him for cancelling an hour before it was meant to start. Turned up pissed)
Kate (my brother's friend and designated driver. Very nice girl and I'm sure my brother would be dead or something by now if not for her)
Two old ladies from my mum's retirement village.

Yes.
That is how pathetic I am. Even my mum has more friends than I have. Admittedly, they did keep saying "I can't hear!" "what did she say?" "I can't understand it!" and "Glory!", and then saying the answers loudly when the whole room was quiet.

Anyway, except for being overly drawn out (they were trying to sell more drinks I think) and some loud/drunk idiots at other tables, it was a good night. We ended up coming 8th or 9th out of about 15. So not great. Last year we came second.

Don't know whether I should bother next year. I would turn up with just me and Matt but I don't like losing.

Inspire Me Thursday Challenge: Let's Go Digital!

This weeks Inspire Me Thursday challenge is to make a digital artwork. I had a lot of fun with this one!!

I picked out one of my favourite photos of Matt & I (Taken at Jules & Dan's wedding), and basically played around in PaintShop until I got something I liked. I can't even remember what I did, I just kept changing things and undoing things and re-changing things until I ended up with this:

I think it turned out pretty cool, and I learned about a lot of things on Paintshop I didn't know about, just by clicking things to see what they do, and deciding if I liked it or not.

A really fun challenge! :)

Birthday Weekend

Happy Birthday to me!! I turned 26 on Saturday :) Had a lovely birthday weekend.

On Friday at work the kids gave me a card they had made for me when I was away on a seminar Thursday. The front said 'Happy Birthday' and they had drawn balloons on it, and this is what the inside looked like:

Each of the kids drew their face & wrote their name on a piece of paper, then they cut them out and glued them onto the card. Isn't it cute?

On Friday night we went out to Jade Buddha for my birthday dinner as we were already going to another party on my actual birthday. It was wonderful! The food and the company were both fantastic, and I got some lovely pressies. Mum even bought me a single yellow rose which was so sweet!

This was taken of us at Jade Buddha. I am wearing the new top I bought with the voucher Matt's Mum & Dad sent me, and the earrings Mum bought for me (which matched the shirt!).

After dinner, we stayed the night at Jules & Dan's place. In the morning they cooked me a lovely pancake breakfast, and we went for a little picnic where I even got a little cupcake with a candle in it.

It was a lovely birthday, and thanks to all of you who helped to make it special - you know who you are :)
